How reliable and demanding is EMSF in terms of servicing?
The device requires next to zero maintenance; the only scheduled downtime is for simple cleaning. The total time of EMSF operations, excluding scheduled downtime, is 330 days a year. The technology has been tried and tested in real environments. Plus, its success at El Quseir, Egypt, has led to intensive negotiations with the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Development to extend the EMSF to all the waterworks centres. The EMSF equipment is fundamentally simplified so that it is applicable without risk in developing countries, where skilled operators are not likely to be available.
The technology can be equipped with remote monitoring (a GSM gateway with periodic dispatch of operating data, i.e. information on operating history and failure reports).
